Gauges: .011, .013, .020w/.018p, .030, .042, .052.Excellent choice for blues or rock players with a wound and plain G string.Made of nickel-plated steel, Dean Markley HELIX HD electric guitar strings are a little heavier with a wound and a plain G string so you can get deeper into the low-end grooves. It took over a year and many trials for the Dean Markley team to find the precise elliptical shape for the winding wire that makes up the patent-pending, Hyper-Elliptical Winding process of the Helix HD. This shape then had to be paired with the correct winding process that would produce these stupendous resultsthe maximum mass for the string's diameter that still maintained the string's vibrancy. The Hyper-Elliptical Winding process results in an increased number of wraps along the length of the string. This increases the mass of your electric guitar string, without changing its diameter or material.More mass makes a fuller tone; more windings give a smoother feel as well as a brighter, more resonant tone. This provides a smoothness and performance unrivaled by conventional electric guitar strings. When you press and strum a normal wrap wire, your fingers experience resistance as they go down into each depression between the wraps. With the Dean Markley HELIX HD guitar strings you'll experience smoothness. These less coarse wrappings let your fingers glide more easily and smoothly along the surface of the wrap wire.

Tune-o-Matic bridge and Dean zebra humbuckers.

Classic Dean headstock with Grover tuners.

The Dean X Series
The Dean X Series offers ML, V and Z style guitars at a price that won't break the bank. These guitars feature maple necks, rosewood fretboards, dual humbuckers, and plenty of Dean mojo, and are built to rock--perfect for beginners and veterans alike.

Basswood Body
The MLX features a lightweight basswood body. Basswood is great for heavier rock and metal styles, delivering a nice even tone that feeds a dirt pedal (or a dimed Marshall) nicely.

Bolt-On Construction
Bolt-on neck construction provides an affordable alternative to set-neck or thru-body designs. The advantage of this design is that if you do have any neck trouble down the line, you can easily replace it.

The Dimeblade's maple neck features an ultra-playable 22-fret rosewood fingerboard, with classic dot inlays.

Dean Humbucker Pickups
To capture the biting tones of vintage Deans, the company includes two of its standard humbuckers, in black-and-white "zebra" style for looks as good as the sounds. And what to expect tonally? These pickups should provide more than enough bite for modern styles, along with plenty of low-end and midrange definition. The standard three-way selector allows bridge, neck, or a combination. Each pickup gets a volume pot, and they share the tone control.

Grover Tuners
If you play guitar then you know what this means--solid, dependable tuning from the industry standard. These guitar machines are a triumph in engineering and style, with a gear ratio of 14:1, perfect gear meshing, and zero backlash and slippage. The gear box has a special lubricant for lifetime, trouble-free service.

Tune-o-Matic Bridge
The Tune-o-Matic bridge with string-thru body design provides serious sustain, along with precise intonation for your tuning preference. The classic v-shaped plate mirrors the headstock wings for some nice vintage Dean style.

Playmate by Dean Playmate EVO Guitar Kit (Amp, Gig Bag, Black) Review

Playmate by Dean Playmate EVO Guitar Kit (Amp, Gig Bag, Black) Feature

  • Dean Playmate Avalanche 09 w/Single Coils
  • 10 WATT Amp
  • Gig Bag, Cord, Strap, Picks and Tuner
This Dean outfit comes with the essentials necessary to get a young rock-and-roller's career started: an ax, an amp, and a cable to connect them. The Playmate EVO electric guitar features a bolt-on maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and an attractive single-cut basswood body. The traditional hardware includes a Tune-O-Matic style bridge with a stop tailpiece, dual exposed-coil humbuckers, a three-way selector, and master volume and tone controls. The guitar also has a tilt-back three-aside headstock, which benefits from a set of machineheads that have been quality sealed for accurate tuning. Put this all together and the EVO adds up to a substantial, neatly built workhorse guitar. The accompanying Mean 10 practice combo packs the same attitude as the axe, with a tough closed-back cabinet, corner protectors, carry handle and treble, as well as a boost switch. The addition of a headphone jack is a boon for late-night woodshedding.

Isn't it time you get your (headstock) wings?

Dime It
The late great Dimebag Darrell is a serious metal guitar hero, and Dean's series of Dimebag models pays homage. Dimebag started playing Dean ML style guitars in the late '70s, and made it one of the most recognizable shapes today. Dean offers a wide variety of Dimebag models to choose from, all boasting Dimebag's distinctive look and tons of mojo and attitude.

Basswood Body
The Dimeblade features a lightweight basswood body.

The DB's maple neck features an ultra-playable 22-fret rosewood fingerboard, with custom arrow inlays and a DB razor inlay at the 12th fret.

Dean Humbucker Pickups
To capture the biting tones of vintage Deans, the company includes two of its standard humbuckers, which provide more than enough bite for modern styles, along with plenty of low-end and midrange definition. The standard three-way selector allows bridge, neck, or a combination. Each pickup gets a volume pot, and they share the tone control.

Grover Tuners
If you play guitar then you know what this means--solid, dependable tuning from the industry standard. These tuning machines are a triumph in engineering and style, with a gear ratio of 14:1, perfect gear meshing, and zero backlash and slippage. The gear box has a special lubricant for lifetime, trouble-free service.

Floyd Rose Special Tremolo
The patented and often imitated double-locking design of the Floyd Rose tremolo allows you to lock your guitar in tune at the nut and at the bridge. Engineered like no other tremolo system, the Floyd's high-quality steel parts are manufactured to exacting specifications. Beat it up as much as you want--from traditional vibrato to dive bombing leads or flapping loose strings, and stay in tune while you do it.

DBD Traction Knobs
Dimebag always rocked his "traction knobs," which he created by taking a soldering iron to them, for knobs that are grippable no matter how much sweat's pouring off you on stage. Dean faithfully recreates that here.
